Deployable Surface Modules
TRE is a deployable module that packs into flat sheets and once deployed can be assembled to form a structure. The project explores this deployable origami to create different assemblages built out of these individual modules. The amount and configuration of TRE units determines the form and capacity of the structure. We have currently tested and developed three possible configurations, but believe there are many more the module is capable of creating.
Once deployed, the TRE modules “pop” into their functional state which mean that they do not rely on compressed air to stand up.
It only requires two TREs to have an assembly, from which different configurations can take place.
